Adolph Wagner belongs beside Gustav of Schmoller to the most important economists of the Bismarck era. It was member in the association for Socialpolitik. He was a rector the Friedrich William (today's Humboldt) university to Berlin.

Wagner was born as a son Rudolf of Wagners.

It studied rights and political sciences, ward 1858 teachers of the political economy at the commercial academy in Vienna, 1863 in Hamburg, 1865 tidy professor in Dorpat, 1868 in Freiburg and 1870 in Berlin. In the first years of its effectiveness it was excellently busy with the bank and currency nature.

While Wagner for the point of view at men, had from it to 1872, found such as Schmoller, hero, wet one and Brentano a strong support, he went soon beyond the same, so that he withdrew from the executive committee of the association for Socialpolitik and stated in an epilog to its appraisal over the "“local tax question"” (Berlin 1877) its deviating point of view. In public meetings of the most diverse kind he explained his conviction of the necessity for a thorough change of the existing economic system. The expenditure of Raus "“text book of the political economics"” (Leipzig 1870 FF.), which it to community with E. wet ones transferred, turned out to a completely new work, in which he strove the national economy new right-philosophical documents to give. Besides it was among other things very active for the "“magazine for political science"”, for the Hildebrand "“yearbooks"” and wrote a large number of flight writings.

1882-85 were weber member of the Prussian Lower House.

Wagner formulated the law of the increasing public expenditures.

Its work prepared the development of the money and credit system in Germany and affected the issuing bank politics and financial practice before the First World War substantially.
