Advertising spot designates a film, with which on the television for a commodity or a service one recruits.

One differentiates between the "“classical"” advertising spots and "“DRTV Spots"”. Classical Spots praises a product on, serves however primarily the image advertisement for the product, not the direct sales. With DRTV Spots (short for "“Direct Response Television"”) there is always the possibility of ordering over a faded in telephone number or Internet address the applied product immediately. After the German advertising guidelines classical and DRTV Spots may be maximally 89 seconds long. Longer commercials are considered than continuous commercials or Infomercials and must be characterized at their entire run time than advertising or sales transmission. In Germany the following regulations apply:

  • Maximally 12 minutes (= 20%) Spotwerbung per hour (already one loosened - generally there is no restriction of this kind more)
  • Maximally 15% Spotwerbung per day
  • Maximally 20% Spotwerbung + DRTV Spots per day
  • Maximally 3 hours of Infomercials per day

It is important that it a difference between TV advertisement with that publicly - gives legal and private ones.
