The aero Lloyd air passage GmbH and CO. Air traffic kg was a German airline with seat in Oberursel (Taunus).
On 16 October 2003 aero Lloyd announced to the responsible district court in bath Homburg v. D. Height of insolvency on and stopped the flying operation with immediate effect. Aero Lloyd offered up to then primarily charter flights, on some (usually intra-European) distances in addition, line flights. The introduction of the insolvency procedure had become necessary, after Bayerische Landesbank as majority partners, which had rejected submitted reorganization concept.
In the context of the insolvency of the aero Lloyd Niki Lauda transfers the majority portions of the aero Lloyd Austria GmbH and creates at the end of November 2003 again its own airline. The new airline firmiert under NL aviation GmbH and used for the time being for its external appearance the marketing name "flyniki". At the beginning of of 2004 was then converted the provisional name into Niki.

Six former airplanes of the aero Lloyd (four A320 and two A321) were handed over to Flight to the again created aero, some machines are however today in the use of the Niki aviation GmbH in Austria as well as in Italy, Turkey and the USA at different airlines.

The planned setting into service of two large-capacity aircraft of the type McDonnell Douglas MD-11 at the beginning of the 90's was not realized.
Already in the year 1923 an airline was created on behalf of German AERO LLOYD AG. From union with the Junkers air traffic AG German air Hansa AG resulted on 6 January 1926.
In August 1979 baron Christian von Kaltenborn Stachau animated the name aero Lloyd again, by creating the charter flight company AERO LLOYD aviation administration GmbH, which umfirmierte 1980 to the AERO LLOYD air transport company.
With entrance of the insolvency in October 2003 AERO LLOYD had carried approximately 950000 flying hours out since 1979 and would have reached in the summer 2004 the number of one million flying hours since beginning.
