ATI - Aero Trasporti Italiani was from 1963 to 1994 an Italian inland airline and daughter of the Alitalia.
At the end of of 1963 created Alitalia the subsidiary ATI, which should out particularly serve inland distances in South Italies from its seat in Neapel. The capital stock of the enterprise came to 90% from the Alitalia and to 10% from that state getting State of IRI, which held for its part also the predominant part of the Alitalia shares. ATI took up the flying operation on 2 June 1964 with two airplanes of the type Fokker F-27, from which to 1969 thirteen were inserted. First the society on the distances Triest Venice Florenz Rome, Rome Neapel Palermo Trapani Pantelleria, Palermo Catania Reggio, Calabria Neapel Rome as well as Rome large ton Milan flew. Characteristically of ATI among other things the east west connections were in South Italies and helicopter flights from Neapel to Capri and Ischia. For some time ATI served inland distances in Libya on behalf the Kingdom OF Libya airlines also. 1969 pushed the first four Douglas DC-9 to the past Fokker fleet. 1973 had ATI 13 DC-9/32 and carried more than 3 million passengers. Particularly in South Italies the enterprise with the Slogan "aero bus" sold itself (dt. "Air bus") very good. In many respects ATI resembled a today's cheap airline due to its route network and because of to the most necessary reduced the service achievements and according to moderate prices.
In the 80's replaced ATI their 27 DC-9 gradually by 38 McDonnell Douglas MD-82, the Fokker fleet was replaced from 10 regional airplanes of the type ATR-42.
Beginning of the 90's offered ATI von Neapel out line flights to London, Paris and Frankfurt. 1994 took over Alitalia for economic reasons its subsidiary company ATI completely. Although officially, some MD-82 flew part of the Alitalia fleet in the years after still in ATI painting. This was identical to exception of the signature and the blue color to the Alitalia Design. Also the former holidays flier Aermediterranea, likewise a subsidiary of the Alitalia, had a comparable Design, only in blue, oranger and red color.
