Agio (ital.) means Aufgeld or Aufzahlung. It is an impact on the nominal value and in per cent is usually indicated.

  • An agio is charged for example regarding the expenditure by securities and called usually expenditure impact.
  • With the emission by shares the agio is to be stopped into the capital reserve of the corporation and becomes thus part of own capital funds relating to the balance.
  • With loans an agio is a along-disbursed impact on the nominal amount of the loan.

The opposite of the agio is the Disagio.

Nebenbedeutung

By agio one understands also that a cigar and/or a Zigarillo contains a first page from pure tobacco, contrary to the cigarette, which tapes with paper is.

In the coin trade the agio is to understand as Aufgeld with the new mission of coins or anticipated payment, if the coins exhibit damages.
