Air marshal (air Marshal) is a rank in the British, Australian and Canadian Royal air Force (RAF). It corresponds for instance to the "“three-star general"” (lieutenant general and/or lieutenant General) at the army and is thus not not to equate with the field marshal (Field Marshal) at the army; its appropriate rank with the RAF would be the "“Marshal OF the Royal air Force"” (today abolished in times of peace). Highest rank in the today's RAF is the "“air Chief Marshal"” (four-star general). Behind it Marshal and Vice air Marshal rank air.

The most well-known British air marshal was Arthur Harris ("“bomber Harris"”), who let 1945 Dresden destroy beside many other cities also still. In the German armed forces opposite general field marshal Hermann was called air marshal, since he was commander of the Air Force. Later it was promoted to realm marshal.

In Soviet armed forces the "“marshal of the branch of service"” of air forces was likewise called air marshal: Main marshal of the air forces.

The marshal of the Portuguese Air Force corresponds to a four-star general.

Do not confound the air with Mars neck or Sky Mars neck: it concerns here armed companions, that are to provide for security on line flights.
