Albert Fraenkel (* 10. March 1848 in Frankfurt (or); "† 6. March 1916 in Berlin) was a German physician of Jewish faith.

Life

Fraenkel was born as a son of the iron goods dealer David Fraenkel. Its nut/mother was the niece of Ludwig grape/cluster, a professor for internal medicine. Possibly by the relational relationship already early Fraenkels interest in the medicine was waked. In Berlin it visited the Friedrich William High School.

1866 it began its medicine study and attained a doctorate already four years later over the suprarenal body illness disease Addison. it received the license to practise medicine to 1872 as a physician. Later he was then an assistant with Ludwig grape/cluster to the and, after its death, from 1876 to 1887 with successor Ernst von Leyden. With 29 years it habilitierte and seven years later the professor appointed itself. 1890 it became beside Werner director of the hospital and leading physician of the internal department of the hospital in Berlin cross mountain.

In January 1916 Fraenkels woman deceased. It succumbed a little later a cardiac infarct. Its grave is on the Jewish cemetery white lake.

Meaning

Fraenkel discovered Diplococcus pneumoniae lanceatus, the exciter of the pneumonia, which after him one designated later. Further it concerned itself with the caisson illness of divers, the clinical features of the Arteriosklerose, the Lungentuberkulose, different blood illnesses and asthma bronchiale.

Since July 1947 the Fraenkelufer at the land military channel carries for the names of the physician in Berlin cross mountain.
