Albert von Szent Nagyrapolt [] (* 16 September 1893 in Budapest; " 22 October 1986 in Woods gets, Massachusetts) was a Hungarian biochemist and Nobelpreisgewinner. It studied medicine and pharmacology in Budapest, physiology in Prague and Berlin) as well as chemistry in Hamburg. Name giver of the Szent university in Szeged.
It was born as a son of Nicolaus of Szent Gyorgyi 1893 in Budapest. Its study began it 1911 in Budapest to it at the beginning of the 1.Weltkrieges was drawn in. He performs its service until 1917 at Italian and received Russian fronts and for bravery the Silbermedailie. Because of a Verwundung it was withdrawn from the front. It terminated its studies in Budapest and went to Prague. Among other things it proved that the active oxygen the active hydrogen oxidizes. After it and a friendly Hans cancer the Szent cancer cycle (this name is however mainly common in Hungary, elsewhere knows one this component of the aerobes Glykolyse rather under cancer or CIT advice cycle) one designated. Also after it received the Nobelpreis, it continued to research. In the area of the muscle contraction it obtained important successes for muscle biology. 1947 it emigrierte into the USA and was here active in the high age.
He investigated the biological burn procedures as well as the Sauerstoffverbrauch in the muscle tissue. It recognized oranges and Paprika as rich sources of Vitamin C and stated that Vitamin C and ascorbic acid are identical.
