Albrecht Julius Theodor Bethe (* 25 April 1872 in Stettin; "† 19 October 1954 in Frankfurt/Main) was a German physiologist.

Life

Bethe studied Freiburg, Berlin and Strasbourg medicine at the universities and locked 1895 successfully in Munich with the graduation. Subsequently, it went as an assistant to the University of Strasbourg and worked there at physiological Institut. 1899 could habilitieren itself Bethe there in its special field physiology.

1911 accepted Bethe a call of the University of Cologne as a tidy professor for physiology. There it was active until 1915 and changed then to Frankfurt/Main. It functioned beside its actual work starting from 1918 as a publisher of archives.

1937 it was occupied by the national socialists with a professional disqualification and referred by the university. 1945 were Bethe of one first, which were rehabilitated. It died 1954 at the age of 82 years.

The theoretical physicist and later Hans Bethe was its son.
