Thaer, son of a physician, studied medicine in Goettingen. 1774 it returned as a physician to Celle. Due to its success he became a body physician of George III., the cure prince from Hanover was. 1802 create Albrecht Thaer the first German agricultural laboratory in Celle in the Dammasch meadows (today Thaers garden). Here it obtained large increased returns among other things with the Fruchtwechselwirtschaft.

Thaers burial place is in the property park. Since 1952 a Albrecht Thaer society exists.
