Albrecht Daniel Thaer (* 14. May 1752 in Celle; "† 26 October 1828 on property with Wriezen, district Oberbarnim, Brandenburg) was Polywissenschaftler and is considered as a founder of the agrarian science.

Life

Thaer, son of a physician, studied medicine in Goettingen. 1774 it returned as a physician to Celle. Due to its success he became a body physician of George III., the cure prince from Hanover was. Besides it concerned itself with flower breed and agriculture. In the year 1780 it into the royal agriculture company was appointed. 1786 he married Philippine of Willich, daughter of the vice-president at the Celler of upper court of appeal. 1809 George Ernst Wilhelm Crome, which became a late professor at the agricultural academy of the father-in-law, married the 1788 born daughter Caroline.

1802 create Albrecht Thaer the first German agricultural laboratory in Celle in the Dammasch meadows (today Thaers garden). Here it obtained large increased returns among other things with the Fruchtwechselwirtschaft.

it changed 1804 into Prussian services. In the same year the property was put to it as a first German agricultural academy at the disposal. Here it developed its "„principles of the rational agriculture "“, with which it became the founder of the German agrarian science. it received a Professur in Berlin to 1810.

Thaers burial place is in the property park. Since 1952 a Albrecht Thaer society exists.
