An alcohol prevention program is a measure on operational level, which has the goal to minimize the consumption of alcohol of the staff.

History

Beginning of the 70's in the Federal Republic of Germany alcohol problems on the job of some few enterprises to serious extent were discussed and for the first time operational measures to the remedy were seized. As enterprises of the first hour here among other things the companies BASF, Bavarian, Mannesmann are, to call Thyssen and Voith.

Were still 1978 under 20 enterprises, which could offer an alcohol prevention program, then were 1993, according to different estimations, already between 800 - 2,000 enterprises and administrations, which had developed and/or had developed such programs further with different beginnings and ranges. Contrary to the large-scale enterprises, the public service and the service sector pulled tight with the structure of programs with a approx. 10-year old delay. Small and medium-sized enterprises hardly know such programs.

Proceed

The structure of an in-plant alcohol prevention program is divided into three levels, which are differently differentiated however in the technical literature.

Even 1: Primary prevention

A goal: Prevention of the alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence from the beginning, by sensitization. Circle of acquaintances who can be addressed: All coworkers (esp. the "“normal consumers"”).

Even 2: Secondary prevention

Goals: Early recognition of alcohol-dependent and abuse-rubbing. To strengthen disease insight with concerning, in order to be able to introduce thus early treatment measures. Circle of acquaintances who can be addressed: Alcohol-dependent, alcohol abuse driving, endangered one, high-level personnel.

Even one 3: Tertiary period prevention

Goals: Reintegration of therapierter coworkers and aftercare measures, in order to prevent back cases. Circle of acquaintances who can be addressed: dry alcoholics, high-level personnel, other employees.
