Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt (* 20 October 1877 in New York town center; " 7. May 1915) was a Sportsmann and a member of the prominent US-American Vanderbilt family.
He was the third son of Alice Claypoole Gwynne and Cornelius Vanderbilt II. and the great-grandchild of the American entrepreneur Cornelius Vanderbilt. Later Alfred Vanderbilt studied Paul's School in Concord (New Hampshire) at the pc. and at the Yale university; as a Yale student it was accepted in the there Skull & Bones Geheimgesellschaft. Alfred's oldest brother William Henry Vanderbilt II. its brother Cornelius Vanderbilt III. died by the father because of the not according to rank marriage with Grace Wilson was enterbt in the year 1892 at the age of 22 years and. Therefore Alfred received the largest part of its fortune, the remaining inheritance after the death of the father under its youngest brother Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt and the sisters of the father was divided. On 11 January 1901 Vanderbilt in new haven (Rhode Island) married Elsie French, daughter of Francis Ormonde French. On 24 November 1901 the common son William Henry Vanderbilt was born. May at 14.10 o'clock local time is torpediert the ocean giant in the Irish channel by the U 20 of the imperial German submarine navy. After two explosions on board the ship sinks in only 18 minutes. Vanderbilt and its servant help to die many women and children into the boats and together with 1.196 other passengers. Its corpse was never found.
