The alimony principle (regulated in kind 33 exp. 5 GG) designates in Germany the obligation service gentlemen, an official during the active service to pay with illness and disablement and after separating from the active service for age reasons appropriate living costs (based on the latter or an earlier office) and belongs to the brought principles of the civil service with tenure. This contains also the aid in the medical case and the supply of members.
The officials do not receive a payment for individually carried out work, but a return for the supply of their worker. The purchases of the official are to be appropriate here the meaning of its office and make possible corresponding living costs.
The state has however a large clearance with the evaluation of the suitability of the purchases, if the necessary training is present. In addition the alimony principle must have to be adapted to respective time conditions after the iurisdiction of the Federal Constitutional Court. During the calculation of the purchases it was considered that an official - because of its not subject to noticeness, the requirement on aid and because of the later requirement for pension - no own contributions to social security to carry out.
