All Oldfather Whipple (* 2 September 1881 in Urmia (Persia), "† 6 April 1963 in Princeton (new jersey) was an US-American surgeon. After it the radical Pankreatico Duodenektomie is designated, an operation for the treatment of pancreas cancer. Here the head of the pancreas, the Gallenblase, becomes parts of the Gallenwege, which removes duodenum and sometimes parts of the stomach.

Life

A.O. Whipple was born 1881 in the national territory today's Iran as a son of the mission acre married couple William Levi Whipple and Mary Louise everything. He spent 14 years of his youth in Persia. After school and college wrote itself Whipple to the Princeton University, where he studied until 1904. From there it went to the Columbia's college OF Physicians and Surgeons into New York, where it acquired 1908 a doctor degree of the medicine. He spent the first years of its clinical training at the Roosevelt hospital and at the Sloan hospital in New York. 1910 it began an activity as a surgeon.

1921 were appointed Whipple the professor of the surgery to the Columbia University in New York and became a chief surgeon at the Presbetyrian hospital. To its retirement in the year 1946 Whipple returned to the Near East and dedicated themselves to the history of the medicine there.
