With Hartz IV to the 1.Januar 2005 the allowance for children was introduced. It acts thereby around a purposeful promotion of small earning families with children. A goal is additional it, small-earning parents the purchase of supplementing ALG II - payments to the income to save with its negative effects. With the allowance for children the family of their own income can live, without having to refer ALG II.
The allowance for children is a family-political achievement at a value of up to 140 euro monthly for each child, however maximally 36 months long. It is paid at parents, who can deny their own maintenance with their income, not however that of their children. The rule sets of the ALG II apply to parents as minimum incomes. Per child the 140 is draufgerechnet " allowance for children on the minimum income and so the maximum income is formed. Only parents, whose income resembles the minimum income at least, are not beneficiary however the maximum income exceed.
Allowance for children is paid only for children, for which also in the month concerned requirement insists on child benefit and whose own income (income of the child) for itself alone taken does not exceed the own need (independently of the income anderern one of the persons in the need community).
It can insist alternatively requirement on only one of the achievements allowance for children, ALG II or social money:
This means in the relationship from allowance for children to ALG II that in case of a refusal of the allowance for children because of falling below the minimum income border will exist, in all rule requirement on unemployment pay II.
Competencies: Only the allowance for children is paid by the family cashes of the federal agency for work. For the social money the local social welfare assistance carrier is responsible, for the Alg II differs the competencies locally in the municipalities.
