Borrel (* 1867 in Cazouls les "† 1936 ebenda) were a French physician and bacteriologist.

Borrel studied natural sciences at the University of Montpellier and attained a doctorate there 1890. Subsequently, it went to Ilja Iljitsch Metschnikow to Paris Institut the Pasteur. It concerned itself there with research to the Tuberkulose and with the search for a vaccine against the plague. 1919 he took over a chair for bacteriology at the University of Strasbourg.

It examined among other things bacterially caused animal epidemics as well as transmission mechanisms and therapy possibilities with viralen cancer illnesses. After it the Borrelien is designated.
