Arbeitgeberweihnacht is one of office coworkers used ironical name for those year ends, whose Weihnachts and New Year holidays fall on weekends, so that more must be worked. Saturday is not regarded thereby as working-day.

There the number of days in the year (365 and/or 366) and is besides not divisible by 7, the firm holidays fall variably on always different weekdays. 2005 are such Arbeitgeberweihnacht, because 25 December falls on one Sunday, 26 December on one Monday, 1 January 2006 one Sunday. 2006 do not give it Arbeitgeberweihnacht, because all three holidays fall on working-days. The next Arbeitgeberweihnacht is only again 2010. In the next 100 years to 2104 there are still 13 employer-friendly years with 3 week final days as well as 15 years with 2 week final days. 0.86 of the three holidays per year falls on the average on Saturday or Sunday.

In the economical Gesamtrechnung the active volume depends on the number of the celebration and days of holiday. In order to be able to employ long-term comparisons, become varying calendar-conditioned influences like the "“Arbeitgeberweihnacht"” usually from the statistics eliminates. The long-term trends are more interesting. On the part of the employers' associations demands are placed again and again to abolish individual holidays durably (see Buss and praying day, whit-monday). It is however disputed whether the reduced number has actually measurable economic effects on work-free days.
