History

The origins of the Brennerei go back up to the year 1794. At this time Ardbeg was operated by black burners and smugglers, until these had to give production up in the unlawfulness after a raid of the customs investigation. The legal Brennerei was probably created, in the year 1815, by John McDougall. Since 1817 documented the enterprise. Until 1959 the Brennerei was in the family estate.

Production

The water of the Destille originates from the hole Iaran (Arinambeast) and hole Uigeadail. The used, from the haven inches Maltings coming, Malz has a Phenogehalt of 56.2 ppm. Ardbeg has six fermenting tanks (wash-out backs) from Pinienholz of 23,500 litres each capacity a Maischbottich (mash do) of 4,5 tons and.
