Armenian airlines was from 1991 to 2004 the national airline of Armenia.

Enterprise history

Armenian airlines was created briefly after independence 1991 and held until 2002 a monopoly, when the private competitors Armenian stepped internationally Airways and Armavia on the plan. The most important basis was the international airport Eriwan (Swartnoz). Until 1997 Armenian was airlines profitable. For the losses 1998 director Arsen Awetisjan made the economic crisis at that time in Russia responsible. When Armavia (at that time duly to Siberia airlines) locked a contract with the Armenian government, for which Armavia secured lucrative routes such as Moscow Eriwan, an inexorable descent of Armenian airlines began. 2004 had to announce the company Insolvenz.
