Arriflex is the old label name for the most well-known and first mirror reflex movie camera of the company Arnold & Richter Cine technology GmbH & CO of enterprise kg briefly Arri or also Arri Group.
For some years the old line of the Arriflex (also 535/535B) is not resumed no more. Successor is the ArriCam in co-operation with the bought up Austrian company Moviecam developed (product designation: Arri plus Cam of Moviecam).
Professional movie cameras are divided into different groups: After the film in 16mm, 35mm and 65mm, which can be exposed thereby. After the use of the camera in addition in MOS and SyncSound.
MOS cameras become related for HighSpeed photographs of up to 150 pictures per second WITHOUT sound recording, since they become very loud. The Arnold & judge Cine technology Group AG calls these types the 435-Serie.
SyncSound cameras become related for photographs to maximally 60 or 70 pictures per second. Parallel to the picture here the clay/tone is noted. They are loud under 20dB. Arri calls these types the ArriCam series. Again this series is divided then into the ArriCam ST (for Studio, heavy and more quietly) and the ArriCam LT (for light, more easily and louder, SteadyCam suited).
World-wide the Arnold & judge Cine technology GmbH & CO of enterprise kg and Panavision the market for professional 35mm movie cameras divide. In the range of the ever more unimportantly becoming 16mm cameras further offerers to it (e.g. Aaton) come.
The business models of Arnold & judges and Panavision differ strongly. Panavision produces 35mm SyncSound movie cameras and rents these alone by own coming rare valley houses world-wide. Within the range of the 35mm MOS movie cameras the cameras of the Arri are bought and "panavized", the objective admission is changed. Arri produces MOS and SyncSound cameras. These are sold world-wide - also at Panavision -, as well as rented in own and strange
Market shares for the actual film market of the 35-mm movie cameras are difficult therefore to determine. All not Panavision (the USA e.g. Otto Nemenz, White international; Germany: FGV Schmiedle, Ludwig camera rental business) use Arri excluding cameras from the house, since Panavision does not offer for the purchase. In addition own of the Arnold & judge Cine technology GmbH & CO of enterprise kg comes several times into Germany (Munich, Cologne, again in Leipzig), the USA (Newyork, Florida, Hollywood), Toronto, London, Milan and Rome.
One can assume all 35-mm photographs within the MOS range with von Panavision was made for 435 from the house Arri in Munich and/or a panavized-435. In the 35-mm-SyncSound-Bereich one must differentiate world-wide. High budget feature of film contracted in Hollywood mostly of Panavision, so that also cameras from this house are used, something similar applies to France and Australia. In Europe, Asia as well as not High budget productions own of the Arnold & judge Cine technology GmbH & CO of enterprise kg as well as not Panavision comes to Zug.Seit introduction of the new models Arricam Studio and Arricam Lite seems however an easy change of trend to suggest itself here. This has apart from the technical innovations of these models, which are certainly superior to the Panaflex cameras, to do also with the fact that the new Arri cameras with their became something more similar on the camera platzierten Filmmagazinen in the handling of the Panaflex cameras. American crews, which were used to the Panaflex models over many years, had again and again "handling problems" with Filmmagazinen, which were installed at the camera in the back. A recent Hollywood Big budget production, which was turned with the Arricams, is the third part of the Harry Potter row.
