In the Florenz 15. Century Gilden developed or guilds, which were called "“arts"” and which were divided into the "“higher arts"”, which Arte maggiori (the "“noble"” occupations) and into the "“low arts"”, which Arte minori (the simpler handicrafts as forge, shoemaker, stone-cutter).

The Gilden of the dealers Arte were particularly important dei Mercatanti o di Calimala, for who exchange brokers and banker Arte del Cambio and those that the cloth and fur dealer Arte della Lana, while the "“low arts"” did not permit social ascent, stood far under these Gilden.

One of the enterprises, which ascended in Florenz to political power, was that the Medici. It belonged to also an appropriate meeting building. To those also the bank enterprises belonged like e.g. those the Medici in Florenz. The Medici is an enterprise with branches, which are not represented by any means only in the exchange broker guild. We find it also in other higher arts.
