Arthur Jores (* 10 February 1901 in Bonn; "† 12 September 1982 in Hamburg) was a German physician and joint founder of the scientific Psychosomatik.

Jores studied medicine in Munich and Kiel. Assistenzarzt was it in Altona, then it went to Rostock. Because of its close connection to the catholic church it made no secret from its antifaschischtischen attitude and had, because it had been denunziert, 1936 the government service to leave. He worked thereupon in the industry as Pharmakologe and was occupied intensively with the Endokrinologie.

1945 he became an unscheduled professor in Hamburg, 1946 full professor of the second medical university clinic in Eppendorf and 1950 rector that Hamburg university. The experience of the war and post-war period directed its interest on the reciprocal effects between mental wrong and physical illness, tabuisierten up to then. Its occupation with the psychoanalysis had let mature the realization with it that this would seize too briefly with physically the patient. It developed one at the symptoms ulcer or Bronchialasthma oriented client-centered therapy. Its Credo was that the patient must heal itself also. 1968 it was emeritiert, which did not prevent it from it within the range of the group therapy to research.
