The artificial irrigation has two goals:

  • Work against transpiration - i.e. the cultivation time extend
  • Dry regions make agriculturally usable

The artificial irrigation draws the disadvantage with itself that in simultaneous sunshine the field salts, since the water is pulled by the capillary action as well as the salt to the surface, where the water evaporates and the salt on the field remains lying.
