As associated (of old high German: gisello, gisellio) in former times in the colloquial language a participant of a society was generally designated, which with others together ate (Tischgesellschaft) or traveled (travel company).

Today as if associated a craftsman designation, who successfully locked training in an occupation of the handicraft by existence of the associating examination before the chamber of trade and received due to its its associating letter.
