August Hermann Werner (* 21 June 1808; "† 18 June 1882 in Ludwigsburg) was a physician and a founder of a child hospital.

Werner, whose older brother than ministers noticed likewise social tasks, began 1832, when he had experienced that "„the rescue houses did not offer "“for children keep-drawn chances to ill and handicapped children, to worry about this clientele. First to it only one flat let for rent stood for it in Ludwigsburg for order, but the institution grew up to a child hospital, in which within twenty years more than 10,000 children were supplied. Werner worried not only about the medical treatment, but also about training for the children. It was supported thereby by its wife.

One of its most well-known female patients was Margarete Steiff, which lived occasionally in the household of the physician and was operated by it - unsuccessfully -. From of Werner donation the today's Karl height followed. The August ago man Werner school in is designated after Werner.
