Autonomy costs is a term from the organizational theory and in connection with the division of labor and/or distribution of tasks on different organizational units is discussed. With the fact the fact is seized that with the distribution of tasks on individual functions or persons higher costs result from autonomous and therefore not necessarily co-ordinated decisions.

The contrary term is co-ordination or tuning costs, which describes that during a bundling of the tasks and decisions, expenditure for a co-ordinated decision results.

The consideration of both components leads to the co-ordination efficiency.
