AvCraft aviation, American airplane manufacturers, held the rights at the production and the customer service for the airplanes Dornier 328 turbo-prop. and Dornier 328 JET. It had transferred these in December 2002 of the trustees in bankrupty of the liquidated Fairchild Dornier GmbH. The final transmission of the rights and patents took place until September 2003.

Avcraft aviation wanted to again take up the production of the 328JET to Germany, and to also repair its wings in the house. This had become manufactured by an external company before.

In August 2004 Avcraft had been established successfully in the market of the regional lines. The participation in the Farnborough air show in the same year signaled clearly the plans of the general manager Ben Bartel to make Avcraft a fixed point in the production from short-distance machines to.

In March 2005 the company schlitterte into bad liquidity problems. According to own data would have an airline ordered and airplanes already any longer not accepted manufactured. In July 2005 Bartel in Germany was arrested because of tax evasion.

The sales of the 328 remained upright, after a buyer for the enterprise was searched.

The production of further Dornier remained questionable.
