The Berufsgenossenschaftlichen regulations (BGV) is the rules for the prevention of accidents issued by the German professional associations.

They are divided in four categories:

  • Category A: General regulations and operational industrial safety organization
  • Category B: Effects
  • Category C: Mode of operation and activities
  • Category D: Job and working procedure

The BG-regulations represent autonomous right so mentioned of the professional associations and are obligatory on the members of the professional associations.

When most important BG-regulation applies the BGV A1 - principles of prevention -, which stepped on 1 January 2004 into force. Many rules for the prevention of accidents were repealed set by this regulation. The responsibility for the detail regulations covered by these regulations was returned to the entrepreneurs, in practice applies it however as reference for the respective state of the art and further frequently to rate is therefore pulled.

The BG-regulations of the Berufsgenossenschaftlichen rules (BGR) are supplemented, the Berufsgenossenschaftlichen information (BGI) and the Berufsgenossenschaftlichen principles (BGG).

General regulations

  • BGV A1 of principles of prevention
  • BGV of a2 company doctors and specialists for industrial safety (it special versions for the individual professional associations exist)
  • BGV A3 electrical system and operational funds (the examination of used in enterprises regulates)
  • BGV A4 precaution according to industrial medicine (transition rules for some preventive medical examinations according to industrial medicine ("“G-investigations"” - integration into the BGV A1 is intended)
  • BGV A8 safety and health protection marking on the job (contains Gefahrensymbole, requirement and prohibition characters as well as regulations over the marking of escape routes, first aid mechanisms etc.)
