The British Forces Broadcasting service (BFBS) is a network of radio and television stations, which are operated by the services sound & vision corporation on behalf the Ministry OF Defence for the British troops.
The BFBS at the end of was created 1943 by an experimental Radiosender in Algiers. Today has BFBS of three radio and two television programs, which are sent by the center in Buckinghamshire close London out by satellite, supplemental by several local of Studios at places, where the British army is stationed. The BFBS reaches today approx. 13,000 army members and their families, mainly in Germany. Further it has to time of Studios among other things in Afghanistan and the Iraq.

After the end of the cold war there were controversies over whether British in the Federal Republic was to be continued or not. The Ministry OF Defence decided however due to the stationing of British soldiers in the context of NATO for a continuation of the radiant emittance and the supply of editorial contents. The BFBS Studio in Berlin was concluded however 1994 with the departure of the allied ones from the city, the citizens of Berlin frequencies of BFBS radio and SSVC-TV were released.
Some BFBS moderators acquired themselves also among the German "fence guests" of the transmitter popularity and used these for a second career, partially with own transmissions with German Radiosendern. To the most well-known examples Chris Howland, Alan Bangs, Steve Mason, David Rodigan belong as well as up to his death John Peel.
One of the most well-known transmissions into the 1960-er years was the hit parade "Top Twenty".
