The OKB was created 1934 by Georgi Michailowitsch Berijew in Taganrog. The company specialized in the development and production of amphibious Flugbooten. However also conventional machines were developed and manufactured like the Berijew Be-30.

Most well-known types were the Berijew Be-2 and the Berijew Be-12

The company firmiert today as Beriev aircraft company (soot: . , German: Wissenschaflich technical complex for aviation Taganrog "“G.M. Berijew"”) under the guidance of Wiktor Anatoljewitsch Kobsew. at present (2004) one works on an overheavy Amphibium with 1000 tons takeoff weight.
