Caesarius of Nazianz (* around 330 Nazianz close in Arianzus; " End of 368 or at the beginning of 369 in Bithynien in small Asia) was a scholar, physician and holy.
Caesarius of Nazianz was the son of Gregor of Nazianz (the older one) and the brother of Gregor of Nazianz the younger one and Gorgonia.
It probably studied in Caesarea in Kappadozien and afterwards at the famous school of Alexandria geometry, astronomy and medicine. When he came 355 to the yard of Konstantinopel, he already possessed a special call as a physician.
Its brother Gregor moved it backward 358 to give up and turn with him after Nazianz its there outstanding position. He was under Konstantin and Julian a physician at the emperor yard in Konstantinopel. When Julian wanted to win it for its heidnischen opinions, he left the yard, its successor Jovian fetched back him however again and Valentinian I. appointed him 364 the governor von Bithynien.
To recommending Gregor and its friend Basilius he withdrew into the private life, after he had been saved from a large earthquake, the on 11 October 368 had afflicted himself. he could 368 be baptized briefly before his death. Its arrangement to divide its fortune under the arms was ignored from its officials to their favour. He was buried in Nazianz.

It is considered as a protection patron of the physicians.
Its anniversary in the catholic church is 25 February, in the orthodox church of the 9. March.
