Cardhu/Cardow is a Whisky Destillerie with Cardow, Speyside. Momentary owner is dia. geo.
Cardhu is and meant "black rock".
The water of the Brennerei belonging to the region Speyside originates from sources Mannoch Hill and the Lyne Burn. They had a Maischbottich (mash do) (7,2t) and 8 fermenting tanks (wash-out backs) (together 296.000l). One distills in three wash-out stills (together 36.000l) and three spirit stills (together 31.500l) by steam to be heated up.
The whisky from this Brennerei forms an important component Johnnie Walker Blends. Under the own label appears 12 a year old single paints whisky, which tastes very malzig and intensive with light smoke.
A so-called "pure one paints" whisky, whose components are at least 12 years old single Malts from neighbouring Speyside Brennereien, excited the mind 2003, since this paints whisky in an almost identical bottle like the single was filled up. Dia. geo pulled the "pure one paints" at the beginning of of 2004 again back. Around such incidents in the future to avoid the Scotch whisky Association (SWA) adopted 2005 new designations. Whether these provide really for more clarity are however questionably, since "Vatted paints" now "Blended paints" is called, what is to be confounded whisky" easily with "Blended (Scotch).
