Carl Friedrich Tamms (*9. April 1828 in Stralsund, gest. 30 January 1898 in Stralsund) was the first mayor of the Hanseatic city Stralsund.

Tamms was born there 1828 as a son of Carl Heinrich Tamms, that at doiesem time Archdiakon to the Nikolaikirche was and later ministers. In the autumn 1847 it began training as the lawyer in Bonn, Heidelberg and Berlin after the attendance of the Stralsunder of High School.

On 18 October 1850 he took the examination as Askulator into Berlin. It began its career as a court listener in Stralsund and put 1852 down into grab forest the junior lawyer examination. Until 1855 he worked from now on in Naumburg on the there circle and court of appeal. There he became acquainted with also Mathilde horn, which he married on 12 July 1858.

After the on 15 December 1855 in Berlin Tamms in half, Cottbus, worked and Magdeburg. 1859 it became on requests of the Stralsunder of advice member in the local advice and took over police headquarters.

After activity of many years in the advice 1879 it were selected to the successor on 18 July of the deceased of mayor Denhard. On 28 October 1879 this choice was confirmed by the royal patent. On 27 June 1887 Tamms was appointed the first mayor. Because of its large earnings/services to the city Stralsund appointed it emperors Wilhelm II. even the mayor.
