Carl Friedrich William Ludwig (* 29 December 1816 in joke living, Hessen; " 23 April 1895 in Leipzig) was a German physiologist.
Ludwig studied medicine in Marburg and attaining and attained a doctorate 1839 in Marburg. Since 1835 it was there member of the homeland association Guestphalia and 1839 one the founder of the Corps Hasso Nassovia, whose honour member became he 1840. 1842 it habilierte and became a professor for physiology and 1846 for comparative anatomy. To Professuren in Zurich and Vienna he went 1865 to the University of Leipzig and developed there the physiological institute designated today after him, where he researched to topics such as blood pressure, urine isolation and Narkose.
it received the Copley Medal to 1884 for its research.
1889 he became knight of the medal "Pour le for sciences and arts ".
Since 1932 are lent those to Carl Ludwig honour medal by the German society for Kardiologie heart and cycle research registered association for outstanding research of many years in the area of the heart and cycle research. After it the institute for Carl Ludwig for physiology of the University of Leipzig is designated.
