The Cementfabrik Hartmann (before times Cementfabrik Neuner) was established approximately around 1860 on the Austrian side white brook in Bavarian the Gmainer local part of the Leopoldstal of Edmund Neuner and an unknown partner.

About over 1890 decided August Hartmann to take part in the factory and bought it finally. 1896 were continued to develop the Zement-Fabrik on Bavarian side and equipped for production by portland cement.

Strange way is the area (which was re-designed after the locking into one "„housing development "“) today, as at that time not over the Austrian side attainable. Coming from Piding over a small bridge, which functions today as side street/cycle track, one can cross comfortably the state border (the white brook) and is suddenly on that Austrian side. The question, why the not at all so small plant was here established, is today unclear until - the next railway station for the further transport is only several kilometers river downward in Piding and/or upward in Bavarian Gmain. The presence of raw materials such as gypsum might play also rather a small role - in the periphery of approximately 50 kilometers are in many places gypsum occurrences. A connection of the course between Piding and Berchtesgaden by the Leopoldstal was in the discussion, in addition, only after building the factory.

The circumstances of the bad traffic route and expensive production led finally on 31 December 1909 to the locking. August Hartmann deceased finally 1921.
