With the term Central German chemistry triangle (regionally only of chemistry triangle one speaks) is the industrielle population centre around the cities resounds (Saale), Merseburg and bitter field in the Land of the Federal Republic Saxonia-Anhalt as well as Leipzig and Schkeuditz in the Free State Saxonia meant. The name is derived from the prevailing branch of industry in this region - chemistry and oil-processing industry -. It is spoken often also of the chemistry triangle Leuna Buna Bitterfeld, since these locations are the oldest and most coining/shaping in the region. Buna is not a city (at least not in Central Germany), but a large work, which is designated after the butadiene sodium used in the there plastic production.

With the intensified development of this industry in Central Germany end of the 1950er arose years the advertising slogan of "“plastics and Elaste from Schkopau"”. The Slogan was to be found occasionally on advertisement posters at motorway bridges and other buildings. The probably most well-known location was at the current federal motorway 9 at the northern bridgehead of the where at a tower from dark red brick this inscription was attached in form of a Leuchtreklame. This advertising message probably hardly escaped each motorist and autopassenger, who were from Berlin toward Central Germany or South Germany on the way, with good visibilities.
