The change department (also change management and/or ) describes functions and processes, which are established in an organization, in order to make changes at products of the organization controlled and documented.

Core element of the change department is the change requirement. After its systematic collection it goes through a permission process. After release change execution takes place to a given goal date.

The change department can refer both to external products of the organization, and to internal products, in particular documentations.

The change department temporally plays an important role during the entire product life cycle, thus of the Invention up to the eop. The co-ordination before the production start (SOP) is particularly critical, since the development times continue to themselves shorten ever and thereby strengthened parallel one works. This co-ordination is part of the approach management.

Change department in production plants

With the development of products the parts list usually defines the parts, which are received into a final product. With a request for modification one describes, which change at a component sequence number and the pertinent CAD model is to be accomplished and/or the pertinent detail drawing and which further component sequence numbers to be considered to be supposed.

The expenditure in the change department can be reduced by strategic modularity with the goal of minimum interfaces between the modules clearly.
