Channel 4 is a British television station, which exists since 1982 and itself privately, thus over advertisement and, finances other commercial activities.

The transmitter is subject to control of the Office OF Communications and has a public order for program. The normal program is sent in all parts of the united kingdom and Ireland, with exception of of Wales where the transmitter S4C beside parts of the Channel-4-Programms also transmissions in walisischer language radiates.

History

Its name Channel 4 owes to the circumstance that there was 1982, in the year of the establishment, in Great Britain only 3 transmitter, i.e. two BBC channels and ITV. The parliament decided the establishment of a fourth program, and on 2 November 1982 Channel 4 went on transmission. 1990 were denationalized the transmitter. It increased its spectator numbers in particular in the 90's by the additional purchase of sport rights, American TV serials such as Emergency Room and Friends as well as Reality TV. The attached film production company, which had to close 2002 because of substantial losses, contributed films like four weddings and a death and a Trainspotting to the program. Since 2002 also the transmissions are to be seen around star cook Jamie of olive with Channel 4. Meanwhile the transmitter operates also a number of other programs, which codes partially, is partly digitally or also freely receiptable.
