Sir Charles Bell (* November 1774 in Edinburgh; "† 28 April 1842 in Hallow park with Worcester) was a Scottish Anatom and physiologist Bell was starting from 1828 professor in London and starting from 1836 professor in Edinburgh.

Bell discovered that the peripheral nerves with certain parts of the brain in connection. 1811 he formulated the thesis the fact that the rear sensory while has the front only motor function. This acceptance was confirmed 1822 by Magendie (1783-1855). This functional separation of the Spinalwurzeln is called today also Bell stomach the law.
