Chief master Sergeant OF the air Force (CMSAF) is the highest NCO rank of US air Force. There is only in each case a NCO (Non Comissioned Officer), which has this rank.
This Sergeant is as it were a general of the small people. He is the superior of the NCO corps of the air Force and belongs to the staff of the Chief OF Staff OF the air Force (CSAF). The CMSAF is the speaker of the NCOs and representative of their interests. It is remunerated after the salary bracket E-9 (see fig. right).
In 1 November 2004 the badge of rank of the CMSAF was changed. Now contain it the large seal of the USA and two stars in the upper section, during the laurel ring under it remained unchanged around the tradition of the badge.
Appropriate ranks and associated posts in US armed forces are Sergeant major OF the Army (US Army), master Chief Petty Officer OF the Navy (US Navy), Sergeant major OF the navy Corps (US navy Corps).
Since October 2005 exists the post senior Enlisted Advisor ton the Chairman OF the Joint Chiefs OF Staff (SEAC). This NCO is an advisor of the general staff boss in questions those the NCOs of US armed forces in mixed major units concern.
