Christian Franz Paullini (* 25 February 1643 in iron oh; "† 10 June 1712 in iron oh) was a physician, a universal scholar as well as a writer in German and Latin language.

Life

The multitalentierte scholar came of to a Eisenacher buyer family. It visited several schools, in order to finally put at the Coburger High School its Abitur down. It studied medicine and theology in Danzig, king mountain, Rostock, Luebeck, Kiel and Copenhagen, received the degree of Master of Arts in Wittenberg and the medical graduation in suffering. Between them long stays lay in Cambridge and Oxford. He became a body physician and Historiograf of the bishop von later and "“body Medicus"” at the braunschweigischen yard in 1685 it returned to iron oh and accepted the post of a "“Herzoglichen Stadtphysicus"”.

As one the last Polyhistoren made itself Paullini its lifetimes not only as a physician, but also as writer, historian, philosopher and Ethnograph a name. It corresponded with Gottfried William Leibniz and was well-known with the scholarly Jesuiten Athanasius Kircher. In one for the time at that time long lives as a private scholar he wrote at least 50 books. In the fruitful society Paullini carried the name the watchful one.

The dirt pharmacy

From the many works Paullinis woke only the dirt pharmacy longer interest, it became still to in 18. Century several times again presented. Medicine historian 19. Century placed it thereupon without justification as ungebildeten Quacksalber and bare Kompilator of medieval prescriptions from the people. The modern school medicine dismisses it because of its today strange seeming prescriptions Wundsalben made of sheep dung as people physician and Scharlatan. But one must regard it from contemporary perspective, from which he was a strictly scientifically working physician. In its prescriptions it depended on the antique Humoralpathologie (the four-juice teachings), which were still in the baroque to a large extent recognized standard. With its dirt pharmacy it tried to provide entrance to effective welfare methods for the poorer layers. Many of these prescriptions can be retraced in the Pharaonenreich dirt pharmacy in old Egypt (see last section) and to the antique physicians as for instance Galenus. It is to be marked that already Galenus used up these prescriptions only its less wealthy patients.

After centuries of the Diffamierung the medicine historians rediscover lately the monastery medicine, which they had called for a long time dirt pharmacy research project monastery medicine University of peppering castle. And some the abstrusely seeming prescriptions quite prove as effective. Promoted by the Pharmaindustrie medicine historians scan the old writings for new active substances.
