Christoph Schorer (* 2 December 1618 in Memmingen, "† 12 February 1671 ebenda) was a German physician, poet and a Astrologe of the baroque time.

Life

The multitalentierte Swabian physician was son of a lawyer. After graduation at the Memminger latin school it registered 1639 at the medical faculty in Strasbourg, where it contacted soon the members "„of the sincere fir company "“, above all Matthias Schneuber and Jesaias Rompler. Their language association aroused the interest in the cleaning of the German language in it from foreign words, which energized it 1643 for the publication of the often presented languagecrude. It at the same time already here its astrological hobby, in which it began with the annual publication of a Prognosticons, where it forecast the events of the coming yearly from the stars. From this popular publication 30 classes appeared.

Finally led a set of study travels it across Basel to the famous medicine school in Montpellier and after Padua, where he attained a doctorate to 1654. Returned to the hometown, he took over the follow-up of his grandfather as Stadtphysikus and published here a number of medical and hygenic manuals for the domestic purposes in German language, in order to reach the simple people.
