Professor Christoph Wagener (* 1954) is a German physician and molecular biologist. It is one the internationally most well-known Onkologen.

Life

Christoph Wagener studied medicine at the Rheini Friedrich William university in Bonn and 1974 with the work "„the change of the clinical picture of the Lungentuberkulose with untreated Erstaufnahmen between 1946 and 1970 "“was attained a doctorate. 1980 it habilierte itself with the topic "„localization and concentration of the carcinoembryonalen antigen (CEA) in the fabric, tumor propagation and Tumorhistologie "“.

Christoph Wagener is a director Institut for clinical chemistry at the center for clinical pathology of the university clinic Hamburg Eppendorf. It was concerned in particular with the gene diagnostics and new procedures for the early diagnostics of Mikrometastasen of a Tumorrezidivs or for the early recognition of repulsion reactions after a Organtransplantation as well as possibilities for improvement by the gene diagnostics for the classification of certain cancer illnesses developed.

In February 2000 Christoph Wagener as well as the Anatomen Ergn had proven that the protein molecule CEACAM1 lets new blood vessels grow. The results of this work were published in the science journal Molecular Cell.

2002 finds special acknowledgment its research results, by wanting malicious tumors with the extracting of the nutrient supply "“aushungern"”.

As Dekan Professor Wagener cooperated substantially in the development university clinic of the Eppendorf in a modern Life Science concept. Altogether until 2012 for the transformation of the clinical center in teachings, research and practice 540 million euro are invested.

Professor Wagener is in the adviser of the university company Hamburg.
