With climbing stand the colloquial language marks a structural construction from steel, wood, plastic etc., which makes it for a climber possible to grow specifically.

Among experts one speaks however of climbing assistance, if one means constructions, which are built to the vegetation by climbers - i.d.R. stand climbers -.

Here the different requirements are to be considered, which a climbing plant places according to its climbing technology against their stature assistance:

Ranker need usually more or less thin rope or staffs (wine, Clematis etc.);

Roll bolts itself best around round bars to approx. 5 cm thickness. Persistent e.g.: Glyzinie, one year's u.v.a. beans, Susanne etc.;

Spreizklimmer need crosswise and longitudinal bar/rope, there them with impulses in-spread themselves and often additionally with pricks (Widerhaken) hook (roses, Brombeere etc.).

Ranker are differentiated to kind and origin of the climbing organs. There are Sprossranker, Blattstielranker, Blattranker etc.

Climbing stands are thus climbing assistance for climbing plants. If one speaks of a stand, one names i.d.R. a spatial thing e.g. a climbing column or also a summerhouse construction. To laminar climbing assistance the term "“climbing lattice"” (or if necessary also "“climbing net"”) applies better. To represent a "“climbing assistance"” (thus climbing stand or climbing lattice) a construction fulfills the requirement not only due to suitable staff or rope diameters, but also by a sufficiently large offer of appropriate profiles within the range, which a climbing plant erklettern is. Reduced to one level mass (lattice widths) between approximately 10 cm x 10 cm and 40 cm x 40 cm for different climbing plants are suitable. The more strongly the wood and the longer and more durable respective climbing are, the larger profile distances are possible.

Steel is not suitable always, since some roll sensitively to winter cold weather react (relevantly regarding late frosts). To sun-exposed steel sections to be able it can become too warm young sprouts also times.

Selbstklimmende climbers such as ivy do not need a climbing assistance, savage wine possess Haftscheiben, which make a stand redundant. Not to neglect the wind force is with free standing climbing stands, if it fully bewachsen and straight is in the summer in the belaubten condition.
