In a coal machine for mixing different coal sorts for the further use are mixed, in order to keep an even coal quality for the respective purpose optimized. The different sorts of the hard coal contain, depending upon stores, different admixtures different material, in particular:

• easily volatile components
• Ash
• Sulfur

The mixture is done via an even distribution of the delivered coal in layers of different thickness one above the other, similarly the horizontal layering of a cake. As is the case for a cake the withdrawal contains for each disk all components of perpendicular disks, then also by diagonal demolition the coal is mixed taken from the fill.

In this way for example an even stability that can be achieved coke breaking into for a coking plant for hut coke, so that pouring does not sag with the ore reduction in the blast furnace in itself together. With the burn in the power station with fluegas desulphuration for example the sulfur portion of the power station coal must be so adjusted that the plant within the optimal range can be operated.
