The united steel plants AG (VSt) was a vertically integrated German Montankonzern with seat in Duesseldorf.

The VSt resulted to a crisisful coined/shaped by price purge and over-capacities in situation of the Weimar Republic 1926 from the fusion of the Thyssen group (portion of 26%), the group (portion of 26%), which Rheini steel plants (portion of 9%) as well as the Rhine Elbe enterprises Germanof Luxembourg mine and hut-gnaw (portion of 15%), Bochumer association (portion of 9%) and Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks-AG (portion of 15%).

The union contained thus nearly all large German iron, stealing and mining companies, as considerable enterprises outside forwards remained only Hoesch, Krupp, property hope hut and man man.

The VSt was into the 1930er years one of the largest German companies. Occasionally the united steel plants applied also than European-wide largest steel concern. The company busy in the meantime over 250.000 employees, produced approximately 40 per cent of the iron manufactured in the German Reich (particularly in Duisburg) and promoted by means of 20 per cent of the German coal.

First chairman of the board of the enterprise was until 1935 Albert First supervisory board chairmen was Fritz Thyssen.

In the third realm the company played a substantial role during armament. In the spring 1932 donated the united steel plants AG 500,000 realm Marks to the NSDAP. Since the VSt did not develop however its capacities in the measure demanded by the government, the realm in salt lattices created the realm works Hermann (today salt lattice AG) as a competitor.

In the Second World War the production plants were destroyed by air raids, smashed to a large extent after end of war the united steel plants and dismantled the remaining production capacities. In the Federal Republic of Germany several follow-up enterprises, under it hut union AG, developed August Thyssen hut AG, Rhine steel and the Bochumer association starting from 1951.
