The coronary angiography is a Angiografie of the heart wreath/ring containers and thus a special form of the x-ray examination, with which the Koronararterien is made visible. The lumens of the heart ill containers are filled over a heart catheter with Roentgen contrast means, which is injected into the coronary containers. The contrast central filling is made visible by means of X-ray and documented on Filmmaterial or nowadays usually on digital storage media.

It serves for the diagnostics of morphologic conditions of the heart wreath/ring containers (Koronararterien) and for the localization of Stenosen as well as their kind and extent.

The risks of a coronary angiography increase with the age easily. Most complications are consequence of an incompatibility of the iodhaltigen contrast means.
