The Daihatsu Copen is a model of the Japanese manufacturer Daihatsu. In Europe the Copen celebrated 2003 premiere.

Its world premiere celebrated the Copen as Concept study on the Tokyo Motorshow in the year 2001.Die resonances on the Copen (the name is a word creation out "„Compact "“and "„open "“) was upsetting, the Daihatsu the Copen in the year 2002 on the Japanese market introduced in such a way. To Germany the small Roadster was introduced in the year 2004 as right steering wheel with 660 cm an engine with 68 HP (L880). The import of the right steering wheel to Germany was stopped end of the yearly 2005 and starting from spring 2006 gives it the small Roadster in Germany only as link steering wheel with 1300 cm an engine with 87 HP (L881).

The Copen is pure two Sitzer and that world-wide first a car with a hydraulically concealable aluminum Hardtop which in 20 seconds into the trunk folds. With closed roof the trunk volume amounts to 210 litres and with open roof 14 Liter.Der Copen as right steering wheel in one particularly for it built workshop is built. The production numbers amounted to for the right steering wheel, under the manufacturing in manual work, 2,500 pieces per Monat.Zu beginning of production in Japan were present after few weeks already 30,000 orders. The Copen was imported by large success in Japan starting from at the beginning of of 2004 also to Germany. Since it was available in Germany to at the end of 2005 also only as right steering wheel, the sales figures amounted to to at the end of of 2005 approx. 500 pieces.
