The data flow chart (also data flow diagram) is standardized according to DIN 44300 and describes a flowing of data in a work routine (e.g. Offer generation in a trading venture). Data flow is represented:

  • by symbols, which according to DIN 66001 is standardized.
  • with connecting operators in a kind of lines with arrows.

One can use data flow charts also to show operational sequences. There a data flow chart no supervisory data flow (flow control) is, gives it no decision rules and loops.

Many symbols according to DIN 66001 are to be found in text processing programs.
