A Dekokt (lat. decoquere, decoctum = abkochen) or Absud is an aqueous excerpt, which by cooking firm drugs, as is won woods, crusts and roots (possibly also insect coverings).

It is usually set with cold water and brought only then to cooking. The Kochdauer depends on the raw materials used in each case. Depending on, which is to be extracted contents material, a shorter or longer duration must be set: Those are Kochzeiten of approx. 8 - over night is possible for 30 minutes or more, also setting. Some herbs are afterwards filtered or abgeseiht.

Frequently application in the traditional Chinese medicine and in the Phytotherapie finds Dekokte.
